about

1966 - By '66, Norman was drinking heavily, but Swinging London being what it was, introduced him to some other less obviously sociable recreations. There's no doubt that this one came out of an LSD trip where Dave Brubeck, The Byrds and an English Rose fused into one. The result was a bitter hallucinogenic riff on envy, consumerism and the perils of fame. Given what we know now, you could say that for the first time in his life, Norman was ahead of his time. Not that it did him much good, mind.

lyrics

Sometimes I think I’m Jane Seymour
Holed up in my Hamptons hideaway
Down the colonial staircase
In a cloud of organza, taffeta and white lace.

Escape through the doors to the terrace
And the old philipinos scatter in all directions.
They’re the best you know - so deferential
To friends and loved ones and relations.

But there’s another side to me
My brow glows most with sweat
You’ve seen me give birth with my feet in the stirrups a hundred times or more
And yet my figure just springs back into shape.

Ensconced in my luxury show home
The pages upon my knee
Sometimes I think I’m Jane Seymour
How does that feel?

But there’s another side to me
My brow glows most with sweat
You’ve seen me give birth with my feet in the stirrups a hundred times or more
And yet my figure just springs back into place.

Sometimes I think I'm Jane Seymour
