about

1963 - Some say Norman's finest hour, this started out as a Bond theme, although we didn't know as much back then. Norman knew John Barry tangentially and saw what he'd done for Matt Monro with From Russia with Love. Being a have-a-go sort he whistled this one up fairly sharpish, but Messrs Broccoli and Saltzman of United Artists hated the lyric and wanted it changed. Norman being Norman, this wasn't going to happen. Shame really. Hard to imagine anything knocking Goldfinger off its perch, but with a more personable bedside manner (so to speak) he might've got another shot at the title. Could've been a contender and all that. Story of his life, really.

lyrics

Maybe I’m young enough,
Rich enough, strong enough.
And maybe I’ll never know,
What it all means.

Forever’s so limiting,
Considering the state I’m in.
Maybe I’ll just fall apart at the seams.

Come to me,
Run with me,
To The Sea of Life
And The Knowledge Tree.

I want you,
I need you.

Kaleidoscope travelling,
Spinning loose, unravelling.
Fragmented, then shattering,
And dashed to the floor.

Revealed in a dream to me,
In a word, a prophesy,
A fate worse than destiny,
Have I been here before?

Comfort me,
Long for me,
To the Sea of Life,
And the Knowledge Tree.

I want you,
I need you.
Where the river starts flowing,
There’s no way of knowing

I want you,
I need you.

Come to me,
Run with me,
To The Sea of Life,
And The Knowledge Tree.

I want you,
I need you.
Where the river starts flowing,
There’s no way of knowing.

I want you,
I need you.
